Interior of the Nissan Frontier

A full-size pickup that can not only haul a substantial load, but also one that boasts state-of-the-art technology and supreme safety capabilities is available here at Thomas Nissan of Joliet, your local Nissan dealer. However, we understand the amount of options that are currently in the truck market, and we decided to lend you a hand in your research by creating a comparison between the 2017 Nissan Frontier and the 2017 Honda Ridgeline to see which one comes out on top!

The first order of business is performance. While both models offer spectacular engine ratings, the Nissan Frontier takes it up a notch with its maximum 6,450-lb. towing capacity1, allowing you to bring along a myriad of items with the utmost ease. If you’re in the Honda Ridgeline, you may feel limited as to what you can haul, since it features a mere maximum 5,000-lb. towing capability2. Furthermore, the Frontier even integrates two systems, Hill Descent Control and Hill Start Assist, both of which are sure to come in handy when pavement turns to terrain. With these intact, you’ll be able to take on any decline or incline with utter grace. Unfortunately, the 2017 Ridgeline only offers Hill Start Assist as standard; Hill Descent Control isn’t available at all.

Next up, we’ll discuss technology. Although the Frontier and the Ridgeline equip comparable features, the Nissan Frontier has the upper hand in several areas. As a standard offering, the Frontier comes integrated with Siri® Eyes Free3, a system that lets you easily connect with your iPhone®. The Honda Ridgeline doesn’t provide this feature at all, and it only implements smartphone integration in top trims. On top of this, the Nissan Frontier also features a hands-free text messaging assistant4 as standard, allowing you to interact with your texts seamlessly and, more importantly, safely. Once again, the Ridgeline fails to offer such a feature until you reach higher models. As a bonus, the Frontier boasts an available, maximum 10-speaker Rockford Fosgate®5 audio system, while the 2017 Ridgeline offers an optional 8-speaker audio system, which is the best it can do.

When it comes to safety, the Nissan Frontier equips a couple more features than what the Ridgeline has to offer. The 2017 Frontier comes standard with front-seat active head restraints, which help eliminate rearward displacement of your head in the event of an impact. Also furnished in this pickup truck is an energy-absorbing steering column. This assists in lessening injuries in a collision by collapsing to reduce trauma to the driver’s head, neck, and breastbone. Those in the Honda Ridgeline won’t have the same peace of mind while on the road, as it doesn’t implement either of these capabilities in any of its models.

We at Thomas Nissan of Joliet think that the Frontier is the superior truck in this comparison between the 2017 Nissan Frontier vs 2017 Honda Ridgeline near Aurora, IL. Visit us today to see it in action! You can find us at 1427 North Larkin Avenue in Joliet, IL.
