So You’re Looking To Sell Your Used Car… Look No Further Than Us!
When it comes down to selling your car, you want to get the most out of your used vehicle. If you’ve thought “It’s time to sell my car,” but are apprehensive about what you might get selling it, let your journey begin here at Thomas Nissan where we’ll look at your car and give you the best possible offer based on its value. There are a lot of factors that go into whether or not your car is worth a little or a lot. Some of these things are mileage, condition of the exterior, and interior condition. However, some cars just seem to maintain their value a little more than others. Some cars with higher resale values are Hondas, Toyotas, Jeep Wranglers, Chevrolet Silverados, and Nissan Titans.
When we consider what cars have a high resale value, we look at the vehicle’s residual value. The residual value is the estimated amount that the vehicle is worth after a certain number of years. So if we were looking at 5-year residual values, we would take any vehicle that has been used for 5 years and estimate what it would be worth based on the amount of life it has left. 10 years would be considering the value after 10 years of use and so on. Since most vehicle loans last around 5 years, we’re using the 5-year residual value to determine what cars will typically have the highest resale values.
High Resale Value Cars
When looking at cars, you can count on Honda to have high resale values. The Honda Civic and Accord consistently have higher resale values; this is partly because Honda’s are known to have a long lifetime. This means that they also tend to have higher 5-year residual values than most other cars. Honda Accords and Civics usually have the higher values because they are in high demand since they are gas efficient and still affordable. Like Honda, Toyotas typically will retain a relatively high resale value. The brand is known for its ability to last over 200,000 miles when well cared for, and this makes a difference when it comes down to the resale value of its cars. Let’s look at some used cars with the highest resale values.
The 2017 Honda Civic
The 2017 Civics can come in three body styles: the hatchback, coupe, and sedan. Depending on the setup, your Honda Civic can have anywhere from 158 horsepower to 306. A base model Civic will get 28 mpg (miles per gallon) in the city and 40 mpg on the highway. Most used 2017 Honda Civics are going for around $18,000. That’s a great amount to get out of a used car. Honda Civics are in high demand as people need more gas-efficient vehicles, and the Civic can deliver in that department. While it is on the smaller side, the Civic is compact and able to fit into tight parking spaces, and we’d be happy to add yours to our lot.
The 2016 Honda Accord
Like the Civic, the Honda Accords are considered top of their class for retaining a high resale value. The 2016 models can come with a coupe or sedan body style. They can get up to 278 horsepower depending on trim and 27 mpg in the city and 36 mpg on the highway with the base models. The Accords are sleek and sporty-looking cars in high demand, making their value go up. They typically can be sold for around $20,000, depending on how you’ve taken care of it. While they are slightly larger than the Civics, they are still versatile and will fit most families’ needs, making them vehicles that we are happy to add to our lot.
The 2015 Toyota Camry
Toyota Camrys continue the Toyota brand legacy for being reliable and have maintained a great resale value. The Camry is available as a mid-size sedan and can get up to 268 horsepower. The gas mileage for a Camry is 25 mpg in the city and 35 mpg on the highway. Depending on how well you’ve cared for your Camry, they can be worth around $25,000. We are always looking for more family-friendly and gas-efficient vehicles to add to our lot, so we’d be happy to take yours off your hand and get you into a newer vehicle.
The 2020 Toyota Corolla
Valued around $20,000, the 2020 Toyota Corolla is another gas-efficient vehicle in high demand. Getting up to 169 horsepower and 31 miles per gallon in the city certainly encourages commuters to look twice at this model. The athletic exterior of the 2020s adds to the desire of the Corollas. As we mentioned with the others, we’re always looking to grow our inventory of vehicles, and as motivated buyers, you can expect us to give you a competitive offer for your used vehicle.
High Resale Value SUVs and Trucks
Trucks and SUVs are always in demand for those worker bees of the world and those who love to travel or those who might need a little more space than what a car has to offer. While all the values again depend a lot on how they’ve been taken care of and whether or not you’ve kept up with routine maintenance, like cars, there are some larger vehicles that just tend to be worth a little extra.
The 2018 Jeep Wrangler
Jeeps are currently trending, which increases their value due to their high demand. The 2018 Jeep Wranglers are recognized as one of the best model years out there for the Wranglers, with the base model getting 23 mpg in the city and 25 miles mpg on the highway. Because the Wranglers can tow up to 3,500 pounds when properly equipped and have a maximum cargo space of 72.4 cubic feet, they are in high demand for workers, travelers, and off-roaders alike. Exceptionally well cared for Wranglers can go for around $25,000. Since we’re motivated to have vehicles that fit everyone’s needs, we’ll always offer a fair price for your used Wrangler.
The 2012 Chevy Silverado 1500
Valued around $15,000, the 2012 Chevy Silverado is regarded as one of the best years for this particular truck. The Sivlerado can come with a regular, crew, or extended cab to fit any driver’s needs. The gas mileage is 15 mpg in the city and 22 mpg on the highway, and the Silverado can tow up to 7,000 pounds, making this an excellent work truck. Since we strive to offer our customers only the best, we are always looking for the best model years to have on the lot and would love to see what we can offer for your Silverado.
The 2017 Nissan Titan
As a Nissan dealer, we are always thrilled to see some of our used models come back to us. The 2017 Nissan Titans are great trucks that get 15 mpg in the city and 21 mpg on the highway. They can tow almost 10,000 pounds, making them great trucks for work or hauling toys. Some of the 2017 Titans value around $25,000, and they are great trucks to use as trade-ins.
