Here at Thomas Nissan, we are proud to be your go-to Nissan Altima dealer. The Nissan Altima has been around since 1993, and it’s safe to say that it’s come a long way over the years. However, the Altima was always ahead of its time. For example, the original 1993 GLE trim came with a heads-up display, automatic climate control, and keyless entry. By its second generation, the Altima ended up producing more horsepower than ever before, and it upped its interior game, in addition to keeping these advanced tech features.
For its third generation, the Altima underwent a complete remodel as Nissan strived to make it stand out against competitors. They succeeded, creating a sporty, stylish sedan that produced up to 250 horses in 2006, this generation’s final year. Now, we’ve reached the fourth generation, which is where the 2021 Nissan Altima lies. We’re excited to tell you more about this new model below, detailing its specs and innovations that are sure to blow your mind.
With six different trims and a variety of packages, the 2021 Nissan Altima is a midsize sedan with options for every driver. Even when you pick the most affordable base-level Altima S, you will be riding in style. Let’s take a closer look at each trim level and what they offer.
The 2021 Nissan Altima S comes with an efficient and capable 188-horsepower engine. Inside, you will find a comfortable cabin that includes a standard 7-inch touchscreen display to access infotainment features. Plus, the standard Nissan Safety Shield 360 suite of driver-assist features will help protect you on the road. This comprehensive collection of technology includes ProPILOT assist adaptive cruise control, Automatic Emergency Braking with Pedestrian Detection, and Intelligent Lane Intervention. Even more optional safety features are available should you desire them.
Now let’s look at the next trim, the Altima SV. The biggest upgrade here is the addition of an optional all-wheel drive for SUV-like bad-weather handling. This trim also comes with everything that the S trim has, plus Apple CarPlay and Android Auto on an 8-inch central touchscreen. More safety features are also standard, including Blind Spot Warning and Rear Automatic Braking, which makes navigating busy streets and parking lots safer. Plus, you can add on the Premium Package, which includes a moonroof, heated mirrors and seats, a leather-wrapped steering wheel, and much more. Much like the S model, the SV can be dolled up through add-ons, but it doesn’t have to be.
It’s time to move onto those mid-grade trims. The Altima SR is the sporty trim of the lineup and brings a healthy dose of styling upgrades. This model includes a dark aesthetic appeal, offering a dark chrome grille and a charcoal-colored rear diffuser. Plus, its sport-tuned suspension gives it a street-ready feel, helping the car handle tight curves with ease.
The SR VC-Turbo offers the same aesthetic but throws a turbocharged engine into the mix for an impressive 248 horsepower. It also includes more luxury features like heated seats, noise cancellation for a more peaceful driving experience, and a power moonroof. Both SR trims include steering wheel paddle shifters, which means you can control which gear you are in without taking your hands off the wheel. Overall, these mid-grade models are great for sporty drivers who like to spice up their daily commute.
The SL trim is a fancier, higher-end trim. It includes a Bose audio system and leather seating. Plus, it offers something called Nissan Door To Door Navigation which is much more detailed than regular navigation. For starters, it lets you chart walking directions from your location back to your car. Second, you can even send directions to your car when you’re at work or getting ready so that everything is all set when you get into the car.
These two top trims are similar, but the Platinum trim does offer a few things that the SL does not, like the Intelligent Around View Monitor, which lets drivers see all of their surroundings via multiple camera angles. The Platinum trim also includes a Memory System for seating and mirrors, making it so that readjusting is unnecessary when sharing the car between drivers. Otherwise, these two high-trim variants are fairly similar, offering a luxurious twist on the Altima.
