Nissan’s legacy is one of reliability, safety, and performance, which you can clearly see present in their EV lineup, just like in the rest of their vehicles. These models are among the finest on the road, giving you excellent responsiveness and a speedy ride while also offering tremendous range.
Nissan has never been a company that rests on its laurels, of course, so we can expect to see them continue to innovate and develop exciting new options going forward. This means that no matter what you are looking for, you will find a Nissan EV to meet your needs today, tomorrow, and for many years to come. If you are looking for a sporty, reliable, and surprisingly affordable electric car, then you cannot do better than the 2021 Nissan Leaf. This has been the flagship EV model in Nissan’s fleet for some time now, and it continues to be a terrific option for a wide range of drivers. While there are luxury EVs out there that might have more to offer, they often start at prices double (or more) what the Leaf starts at. With two different battery options available and a spacious interior, with a ton of cargo room, the Nissan Leaf truly has a lot to offer.
In terms of performance, the 2021 Nissan Leaf is very fun to drive with quick and responsive acceleration that makes it a sporty little option. There are two different battery packs available, depending on which trim level you choose, so you get a different amount of range depending on which one you pick. The standard model features a 40 kWh battery that offers up to 149 miles of driving range on a full charge, while the available 62 kWh battery boosts that up to 226 miles of range on a full charge. You get Nissan’s e-Pedal on the Leaf, which lets you easily toggle regenerative braking on and off, and it features front-wheel drive.
With its hatchback design, the 2021 Nissan Leaf is remarkably spacious inside, both for passengers and cargo, and you can easily get the most out of all that room. The rear seats have a lot of space and are incredibly comfortable, plus you can have up to five passengers inside while still getting a lot of cargo area behind the back seats. You get a total of 30 cu.ft. of cargo space behind the front row with the rear seats down, and nearly 24 cu.ft. of cargo volume even with the rear seats up, giving you a lot of space to work with.
Interior features depend on the trim level you look at, with some really great stuff here in terms of comfort and technology. Considering the highest SL Plus trim, for example, you get automatic temperature control, an auto-dimming rearview mirror, and an 8-way power adjustable driver’s seat with 2-way lumbar. This trim also features leather-appointed seating, heated front seats, and a heated, leather-wrapped steering wheel. An 8-inch infotainment display is standard on the Leaf, as is a 7-inch digital driver display, with Navigation and a Bose premium audio system available.
Nissan vehicles are well known as some of the safest on the road, and the Leaf is certainly no exception. Every model comes with the standard Safety Shield 360 package, which includes Automatic Emergency Braking with Pedestrian Detection, Rear Automatic Braking, and a Rear Cross-Traffic Alert. Other systems like a Blind Spot Warning, Lane Departure Warning, and High Beam Assist are also standard on every model. The available ProPILOT Assist feature takes safety and ease of driving even further, with intelligent cruise control that features stop-and-go functionality and lane centering.
Building on everything they have learned with the design and development of the Leaf, the all-new Nissan Ariya takes their EV lineup to the next level. If you like the Leaf, but you want something larger, with greater maximum range, available all-wheel drive, and more advanced interior features, then you should definitely give the Ariya a look. It starts at a higher price than the Leaf, as you would expect, but it still comes in well below a lot of the competition from brands like Tesla, making it a great option for a lot of drivers. Plus, you still get the reliability and performance you expect from a Nissan.
Speaking of performance, much like with the Leaf, two different battery options are available for the Ariya, letting you choose the amount of range you need. The standard battery is a 63 kWh pack that will give you more than 200 miles of range on a full charge. If you choose the available 87 kWh battery, however, then you will get up to 300 miles of range from a full charge, which is sure to be a great option for a lot of drivers. While front-wheel drive is standard, an impressive all-wheel drive system is available for the Ariya that combines with a 389 hp motor system and instant acceleration to deliver a thrilling driving experience.
Although Nissan has not yet provided any specific information about how much space will be available inside the 2022 Ariya, we can see that its SUV design will allow for quite a lot of cargo room. It will have seating for up to five passengers, with plenty of usable space for cargo both behind the rear seats and with the rear seats down. From what we have seen, the interior will be especially spacious and comfortable, thanks to a very minimalist design that looks to keep it as useful as possible. A flat floor that is set quite low helps increase this sense of space, while luxurious and incredibly comfortable zero-gravity seating ensures everyone has a great ride.
In terms of interior technology, it is clear that Nissan is pulling out all the stops with the Ariya, providing fantastic connectivity and functionality while still keeping the price surprisingly reasonable. You get a 12-inch infotainment display along with a 12-inch digital driver display that allows you to control your audio and keep track of your navigation and other information. An available head-up display makes it even easier to keep track of your speed, navigation instructions, and safety warnings. We also know that the Ariya will feature an Intelligent Route Planner that helps you choose routes with charging stations, along with Amazon Alexa integration that makes it easy to use voice commands, find businesses, and even control smart home devices.
We do not have all of the specifics yet about the standard and available safety features for the Ariya, but considering Nissan’s reputation for excellent vehicle safety, they are sure to be impressive. It is a safe bet that it will have the same standard features as the Nissan Leaf, including Automatic Emergency Braking with Pedestrian Detection, a Lane Departure Warning with Lane-Keeping Assist, and a Blind Spot Warning. The Ariya will be available with Nissan’s new ProPILOT Assist 2.0 system, which includes semi-autonomous functionality like hands-free single-lane driving and hands-on guided lane changes.
There are many different reasons people tend to favor and stick with a particular brand of vehicle. For a lot of Nissan owners, it really comes down to the unparalleled level of reliability and performance they have to offer. Nissan vehicles are among the most reliable cars, trucks, and SUVs on the road, delivering excellent performance and a responsive driving experience year after year. There is a reason so many people who first buy a Nissan keep coming back for their next vehicle time and again – because they know their investment will be rewarded.
That is something that a lot of other brands fail to focus on and value. While the reliability of a Nissan is certainly legendary, so is the kind of performance and excellent driving experience it will offer. For decades, the Nissan brand has been associated with sporty rides and vehicles that are simply fun to drive, delivering an experience that you will not find anywhere else.
As Nissan looks to the future, it is clear that they are extending this legacy and reputation for reliability and performance into their fleet of EV models. That means that choosing a Nissan EV will give you access to a thrilling, sporty ride that will let you skip the gas pump and simply own the road. It is an investment in a vehicle that will retain its value and always be there when you need it, so you can focus on living your life and enjoying your drive.
